| 2. | The 'Total Count' column represents the count of haplotypes in all haplogroups publicly listed on the FamilyTreeDNA-hosted Haplogroup and Geographic project websites below as of Oct 2008. It is the total sample size for this analysis. Only those haplotypes were counted where MDA Country of Origin was provided or could be determined from corresponding YSearch entry, when available. The Total Count for each region includes haplotypes from countries of origin where R-U106 has not yet been found or is in R-U106 Group, e.g. R-U106 has not yet been publicly reported for an FTDNA customer from Estonia. | |||||||||
| 3. | The 'Population Density' figures represent an estimate of the number of R-U106 men per 1,000 in the given region or MDA country of origin. Since the R-U106 count is only that of R-U106 group participants, population density figures may be invalid. That is, there are more confirmed R-U106 haplotypes than counted here but they have not joined the group. However, it is assumed that the estimates that would be derived if all known R-U106 haplotypes were included, would be within the Confidence Interval (CI) used here. It is also assumed that the relative differences between population densities of each region, e.g. England vs. Scotland, or NWE vs NEE, would be approximately the same either way. | |||||||||
| 4. | The 'CI' column is the 95% confidence interval (CI) or margin of error of the corresponding Population Density estimate. The Population Density and CI figures must be viewed together, e.g. the population density for R-U106 in England is 230 +/- 8 or, alternatively 222-238. The 95% CI value is that margin of error that results 19 times in 20. That is, if this analysis were repeated 20 times with a different set of data each time, the Population Density estimate and CI would be the same 19 of those times. One of those times the Population Density estimate and CI could be something completely different. | |||||||||
